Flag Football is over

Flag football was really fun this fall. Danielle did the co-ed team through the school again. More girls joined her and Bailey on the team, and it was great to see. Coach Romero was awesome and made sure everyone got to play equally. For that reason, along with the fact that most schools we played had only 5th graders on the their team while we had 4th and 5th, we did not win a single game. But, the kids had fun and enjoyed the team bonding. Danielle amazed me how tough she was. At this one school, they seemed to be playing tackle football! She was plowed over by this kid that was 4 times her size. He rung her bell a bit and she shakily came to the sidelines but she never shed a tear and was out there the next series. She had some great plays during the season, especially defensively, and improved as a player.
Drew did YMCA flag football. His games were every Friday night and it was fun going as a family. We would try to keep warm and sip hot chocolate. Drew had a great and fair coach as well. He was in the next age division up this year, 8-10. So he was playing with kids twice his size. He fit in with them great though and they treated him as an equal. He had to earn some respect on the field first, and he did. We supposedly had pictures of him catching an interception and running it down, but some how they are lost now. Ugh!
